Preparing Children For A Funeral

Your child may need help to prepare for the funeral. They might have questions about the funeral as it may be the first one they have been to. We have books and resources that can better help a child’s understanding and can support parents and carers to talk through with the children what to expect on the actual day.

Setting the scene can really help, listening to songs that will be playing, explaining all the planned parts of the day, and possibly visiting the venue in advance. It can offer great support to the child and their family for staff from school to attend the funeral.
